We love our community.  The good news about Jesus is for everybody.  We want to be good neighbours, especially by sharing the life-changing truth that Jesus can forgive us.

On this page you can find out about our toddler group as well as our various outreach events and courses.  Or else you can read on to find out why we're here in Wollaton.

why we’re here

As someone once said, "The church is the only organisation in the world which exists for the benefit of non-members."  We certainly hope that's true of Christ Church Wollaton.

We want to reach out and bless the local community however we can.  We believe that the most loving thing we can do for people is tell them about Jesus.  Fixing our relationship with God is our number one need and so it's right that we make that our number one priority.  But we also want to care for people in other practical ways too, being a positive presence in Wollaton and giving people opportunities to make meaningful relationships.

Much of our love for the community will be expressed in small, informal ways.  We encourage everyone at Christ Church to take the initiative in being a good friend to those around them and to serve those they come into contact with.  These natural, everyday interactions are an important part of our witness to the community and show that the good news we believe about Jesus really does impact us day by day.

For some of the more organised ways we do this, read on below.

Dealing with little children can be a stressful time.  Knowing there is somewhere to go with friendly faces can make a huge difference.  That's why we have Pippins, our toddler group for children under 5 and their carers.

There are stories, toys, snacks and activities for the children, plus the chance to chat with other parents and carers over tea, coffee and home-made cake.  Many people have come along and found new friends there to support them in life with a little one.  We meet at Vale Community Centre from 10am to 11:30am on Fridays during term time.

Christianity Explored
If you are new to Christian things or have questions about what life is all about, Christianity Explored is a great place to start.  It's a short course designed for people who want discover the basics of Christianity.  Using a mixture of videos and discussion, the course takes you through Mark’s Gospel, an eye-witness account of the life of Jesus.  You’ll have the chance to ask any questions you like and to explore who Jesus is, what He’s done and what difference that should make to us.  The course is normally run in somebody’s home.  There’s a relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of coffee and cake.  You won’t be asked to pray or read aloud or do anything which might make you feel uncomfortable.  The aim is to provide a friendly environment where together we can explore what impact the message of Jesus might have for you.

We hope to start a new course very soon.  If you’d be interested, please get in touch with us via the contact page and we can let you know when the next course is starting.  For more information check out the Christianity Explored website or watch the trailer below.
